Book Review: The Caged Queen by Kristen Ciccarelli

Saturday, December 28, 2019

Author: Kristen Ciccarelli
Series: Yes- Book #2 in the Iskari series.
Cover: Love the cover of this book too! I have the series on my shelf and I cannot stop looking at them all. I just love their design so much.
Rating: 4/5 I enjoyed this book, but not as much as The Last Namsara. I still think Ciccarelli has a beautiful writing style, but the story wasn't as spicy as the first book. That being said, I can't wait to read the third book!

Blog Redesign!

Monday, December 23, 2019

Hello everyone. Happy Monday!

This is just a small update to my blog. Over the past week, something happened to the coding with the template I used to use for my blog. I've switched templates now and I'm trying to fix some posts, gifs, pictures, spacing etc. etc. I'm really sad since I loved my old blog template, but I've tried reaching out to the creator of the template and they haven't responded. Oh well...

Series or Standalone?

Monday, December 16, 2019

Hello everyone!

This post is just going to be a bit of a laid back one :) The main question for today is do you prefer to read books in a series or do you just want everything to be wrapped up neatly in one book? This question was brought up by my best friend. She loves giving me books to read but always had a hard time because she doesn't know if the book I'm receiving is the first, third or eight book of the series. This year she asked if there were any standalone YA books I want to read and I found that hard to answer.

Book Review: The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli

Friday, December 6, 2019

Author: Kristen Ciccarelli
Series: Yes - Book #1 in the Iskari series.
Cover: I love covers that have hints of gold. I think it brings subtle elegance the the cover. Seeing the covers of the rest of the series, I think this gray scale & gold design is very lovely.
Rating: 5/5 Even though I have read The Last Namsara last year, rereading the book still brought me so much feelings and awe at Ciccarelli's writing. I loved every single story and sentence in this book. I cannot wait to read her second book!

Around the Blogs (#3)

Saturday, November 23, 2019

Hello everyone. Happy Saturday!

This post is inspired by the lovely Chuckles over at their blog Chuckles Book Cave. The main reason why I started blogging was by reading wonderful blogs made by other people. It is always fun to read other people's reviews, blog tags, rants, or just posts about anything. I decided that I should post what blog posts I've read and one's that I liked. I read a lot of posts, but here are some that I enjoyed :)

Book Review: The Wives of Henry VIII Tell All by Candace Fleming, M.T. Anderson, Stephanie Hemphill, Lisa Ann Sandell, Jennifer Donnelly, Linda Sue Park, and Deborah Hopkinson

Sunday, November 17, 2019

Authors: Candace Fleming, M.T. Anderson, Stephanie Hemphill, Lisa Ann Sandell, Jennifer Donnelly, Linda Sue Park, and Deborah Hopkinson
Series: Stand-alone
Cover: Love how this cover uses the art style that was found in the time period where this book takes place. I think this is Anne Boleyn. Not quite sure, but let me know what you think.
Rating: 5/5 I finished this book so fast. I absolutely love shows like The Crown, so when I saw a book about Henry VIII, I decided to give it a shot. I fell in love with this book and highly recommend it if you're interested in the lives of Henry's six wives.

The List Keeps Growing (#2)

Tuesday, November 12, 2019

Happy Tuesday everyone!

This is just a small update of what I've been doing and all the reasons why I haven't been posting. This year I wanted to read 20 books and well THAT'S NOT HAPPENING! I think I've read 8? That's so bad haha. I've been working and studying for some licenses for my work, which means 8 hour work day + 2-3 hours of studying. I just didn't have time for books. I DID read a couple of books which I have to write reviews on, so that will be coming soon.

Any who, this post is all the books I've added on my TBR list. I have a grand total of 62 books I'd like to read now. This is a small list compared to other bloggers out there. Some have into the thousands!! I remember when I used to read a book a day. Where did all that time go?! Hopefully I can tackle most of these books down the road. Here are the new family members to my TBR list!

Wednesday, November 6, 2019

Author: Tomi Adeyemi
Series: Book #1 in Legacy of Orïsha series.
Cover: Love the cover of this book. I love the tribal ink that is on her face. It brings a nice touch to her character.
Rating: 4/5 I really enjoyed the world of Children of Blood and Bone, but I didn't connect to the main character as much as I wished I could have. Still can't wait to read the next book of the series!

Children of Blood and Bone (Legacy of Orïsha, #1)

The Next Five (#6)

Tuesday, May 21, 2019

Hello everyone. Happy Tuesday!

Guys I'm soooooo behind on my reading goals for this year. I am about two books behind schedule and I hope I can get back on track. Why am I such a slow reader lol... Any who, here are the next five books I'll be reading. If you've read any of these books, let me know on a 5 star rating what your thoughts are on that book. No spoilers please!! All descriptions are taken from Goodreads.

Book Review: Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young

Wednesday, May 15, 2019

Author: Adrienne Young
Series: Stand-Alone
Cover: Cover is alright. The model doesn't really match up with what I thought Eelyn would look like. I feel like she has so much hair compared to the book description.
Rating: 4/5 This book took a while for it to get interesting. I think it took about halfway through the book for me to start getting invested.

My Vacation in Japan!

Saturday, May 11, 2019

Happy Friday everyone!

Ever since I was a little kid reading manga and watching anime, I've always wanted to visit the beautiful country of Japan. I was able to spend a week in Japan and I have to say that I loved every second of it. I visited a total of five cities in Japan, Osaka, Kobe, Hamamatsu, Nagoya, and Tokyo. Since I visited mostly south Japan I hope to visit the northern side of Japan one day. Sorry for posting a bit later than scheduled. Any who, enjoy the pictures of Japan! Shameless plug of my Instagram since I posted pics there too: @elleinked

Book Review: Peter Green and the Unliving Academy: This Book is Full of Dead People by Angelina Allsop

Wednesday, May 1, 2019

Author: Angelina Allsop
Series: Book 1 in The Unliving Chronicles
Cover: This is such a cute cover. Love the art work of this design. I gotta say poor Pete xD He looks so terrified.
Rating: 3/5 I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Overall, I did enjoy the book. I do feel like this book is intended for someone a bit younger than I am. It reminds me of The Children of the Red King series, although they're two very different books.

My Vacation in Vietnam!

Sunday, April 28, 2019

Hello everyone. Happy Sunday!

So last month I took a month long vacation in Vietnam & Japan. It was a very long trip and I was definitely homesick. Although it was great and fun, there are a couple of BRUTAL things you have to deal with. For fun (not fun), I counted all the hours I was in the plane for and the total was *drum roll*... 42 HOURS... Yup, I was flying for 42 hours total. The total time for layover was 16 hours.

Now, onto the more fun stuff, Vietnam!! It feels so weird coming from Seattle, WA at a nice ~50F (~10C) weather to Vietnam which was a blazing 85F (30C) AT NIGHT . I was wearing jeans and a jacket, sweating like I just came out of the shower inside the airport where they have AC. So, that was very nice lol... Overall, I don't have many pictures of Vietnam but I'll post as many as I can here. There is a lot of stealing in Vietnam, especially with phones, so anywhere I went, my phone was in my awesome fanny pack.

Hello everyone!!

So I was getting bored with my old avatar. I really do love my old one and it'll always have a place in my heart because it's the first avatar ever, but I figured I needed to change things up a bit. I decided that every year, I'll try and get myself a new avatar made by a new artist. I love how every artist has a different style. So here is the new avatar down below :)!

Book Review: The Last to Let Go by Amber Smith

Monday, February 18, 2019

Author: Amber Smith
Series: Stand Alone
Cover: I love how the title of this book covers the entire cover. The ball of tangled wires/string is a perfect representation of what this book is about.
Rating: 3/5 The book was "mehhhh" from beginning to end. The entire book was very simple and just too plain(?). It is missing something to give it an extra boost to a 4 or 5 rating.

Burying Myself in Webtoons (#3)

Saturday, February 16, 2019

Hello everyone! Happy Saturday.

This is another update to all of the webtoons that I am reading.  For those who don't know what a webtoon is, a webtoon is a digital comic strip that is published online. I absolutely love the art, story line, dedication and work that is involved in these comics. I'm still reading the webtoons from my previous posts, but here are some more webtoons that I would like to recommend to you all! Feel free to recommend me any webtoons that you know as well :)

Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

Thursday, February 14, 2019

Happy Thursday everyone!

I saw this book tag on Andrea's Bookish Thoughts and thought how fun it would be to do it myself. Everyone is different with different tastes. That being said, if I said I didn't like something, but you absolutely love it, that is 100% okay! If you end up doing this book tag, link it to me in the comment section. I would love to read it! Onto the tag.

2018: A Year in Review

Tuesday, January 1, 2019

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I was reading Literary Feline's Year in Review and figured that I should write one for my own blog. She got her questions off of Jamie's blog at The Perpetual Page Turner. Overall, this is my first official full year of blogging. I have had many great reads in books, blogs, and other reviews. It has been an amazing wonderful year of blogging. Do you all have any New Year resolutions? I'm trying to lose weight, blog/read more, and get better at my job :) Okay, onto the review!
