Book Review: Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston

Sunday, December 30, 2018

Author: Ashley Poston
Series: Yes - Book #1 in the Heart of Iron series.
Cover: I think the cover fits perfectly with the book. I can imagine a city in space looking like that. Curious to see if it is possible to have a city like that in space though.
Rating: 3/5 First, I was enjoying the book pretty nicely, but then it went downhill for me towards the end.

The List Keeps Growing

Thursday, December 27, 2018

Hey there strangers! Happy Thursday.

It has been forever since I posted ANYTHING. Work and life have made it a tad difficult for me to post things. December is the busiest month out of the year for me at work. I'm also working on a side hobby as well that is taking a bit of my time. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Did you get anything that you wanted??

This post is basically a list of all the books I am putting on my TBR list. I probably should read books faster though... My list feels like it's getting longer and longer with no end in sight. Right now, my TBR list has 53 books on there. If I want to read all those books by the end of next year. I need to finish one book a week. That is a tall order... Oh well! Onto the books that are added to my TBR list :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thursday, November 22, 2018

Hello everyone!

This is going to be just a small post to wish everyone that celebrates Thanksgiving a Happy Thanksgiving! Eat a lot of mashed potatoes for me. That is my favorite dish! If you don't celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope you have a freaking awesome Thursday.

The Next Five (#5)

Sunday, November 11, 2018

Hello everyone. Happy Sunday!

Here are the next five books that I will be reading! Since it is close to winter, I'm hoping for some nice refreshing books to read. I usually read one book at a time and unfortunately, I'm not the speediest reader either. Honestly, my list of books to read feels like it'll never end. If you've read any of the books I've mention, let me know on a 5-star rating scale what you think of it. Please don't put any spoilers! Here are the five books and my thoughts on them as I read the book descriptions. All the descriptions are taken from Goodreads.

1. Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston

Book Review: Welcome to Night Vale by Joseph Fink & Jeffery Cranor

Saturday, November 10, 2018

Author: Joseph Fink & Jeffery Cranor
Series: Yes - Book #1 in the Welcome to Night Vale series.
Cover: I would say this eccentric cover matches perfectly with the book. Also find it eerie that light is radiating out from the eye.
Rating: 3/5 I think... this book may be the weirdest book I have ever read. So many things to say, but I don't know how to formulate them all correctly LOL.

October Wrap Up 2018

Thursday, November 1, 2018

Happy Thursday everyone!

I hope everyone had a blast with Halloween. Turkey time for people in the States is coming soon and I cannot wait. I absolutely love Thanksgiving. Overall, October was a very simple month for me. Work was very busy, which means I didn't have much time for reading. Here are the books that I read in October.

Book Review: Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones

Sunday, October 28, 2018

Author: S. Jae-Jones
Series: Yes - Book #1 in the Wintersong series.

My Favorite Supporting Characters

Saturday, October 20, 2018

Happy Saturday everyone!

Today is a rare day off for me so I decided to make a small post. So, in my opinion, what is a supporting character? A supporting character is someone that isn't the main focus of the story. For example, in the Throne of Glass series, Celaena is the main character. Chaol was a supporting character until Tower of Dawn was released. Now Chaol is a main character and therefore not allowed to be on this list. Simple definition right? Let's get onto the list. Also, this is just a list, I'm not ranking these characters at all.

1. Kenji from the Shatter Me series.

Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1)

Book Review: Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian

Sunday, October 14, 2018

Author: Laura Sebastian
Series: Yes - Book #1 in the Ash Princess Trilogy series.
Cover: The cover reminds me of the Red Queen series. Although the generic crown in front of a book cover has been done over ten times by now, I still enjoyed this cover. I love the dark feel that you get from the cover. A dark ash crown for an ash princess.
Rating: 4/5 I am surprised that I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would.

Burying Myself in Webtoons (#2)

Wednesday, October 10, 2018

Hello everyone! Happy Wednesday.

It has been a while since we chatted or blogged. Last time, I made a post about all the webtoons that I read when I'm taking a break from YA books. You can read about the previous post here. For those who don't know what a webtoon is, a webtoon is a digital comic strip that is published online. I absolutely love the art, story line, dedication and work that is involved in these comics. I'm still reading the webtoons from my previous post, but here are some more webtoons that I would like to recommend to you all!

Rating: 3.5/5 This book wasn't what I was expecting. At the same time, it wasn't a disappointment either? I grew to enjoy the book as it went on.

Hello everyone! Happy Thursday :)

So, I saw this tag on Chuckle's blog @ Chuckle's Book Cave who read the tag on Katherine's blog @ I Wished I Lived In a Library. I had so much fun reading the answers that I decided to do this tag myself. I won't tag anyone for this tag, but if you want to participate you can :) Let me know if you participate down below so I can read your answers too! Alright, onto the tag.

The Next Five (#4)

Tuesday, August 21, 2018

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Here are the next five books that I'll be reading. Hopefully I'll be able to read faster than usual thanks to audiobooks! With work, finding time for me to read is a bit difficult. All of these books will be rated on a 5-scale rating system when I finish them. If you've read any of the books that I've mentioned, let me know what you've thought of them! No spoilers please :) Here are my thoughts of the books while I read their descriptions. All of the descriptions are taken from Goodreads.

Book Review: Renegades by Marissa Meyer

Monday, August 20, 2018

Author: Marissa Meyer
Series: Yes - Book #1 in the Renegades series.
Cover: I really enjoy this cover. It gives me a very comic book feel. The font and color for Renegades is so simple and contrasting with the rest of the colors.
Rating: 5/5 I don't think I've read a superhero YA book before. At least from the top of my head I don't remember reading any. This book was amazing from start to finish. Meyer is such a talented writer.

Wednesday, August 8, 2018

Author: Tahereh Mafi
Series: Yes - Book #4 in the Shatter Me series.
Cover: One of my favorite covers ever. This series has the most stunning covers. White is my favorite color, so this design just went through the roof with me.
Rating: 5/5 This was the book that I was waiting ALL YEAR for. I am so glad that I finally got to read it. It was everything that I hoped for and even better!

Ten Literary Characters That Grind My Gears

Wednesday, August 1, 2018

HAPPY WEDNESDAY EVERYONE!

I feel like in my many years of reading random books across many genres, I have encountered a couple of characters that have ruffled my feathers. Generally, I consider myself a pretty lenient reader and I rate books fairly lax. But once in a blue moon, I will meet a character that irritates me. Honestly, if I could meet these characters in real life, I may have given them a smack down already. Now, all of these mini rants are my own personal feelings toward those characters. If you love them, that is great for you! I'm not here to pick a fight with anyone and I don't want you guys to hate me because I hate some fictional character. <3 <3 <3

Book Review: The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa

Saturday, July 28, 2018

Author: Julie Kagawa
Series: Yes - Book #3 in The Iron Fey series.
Cover: This cover has my least two favorite things for covers. One, the color pink and two, a model in the front.
Rating: 3/5 I had high hopes for book #3, but unfortunately, I still don't think the series is my cup of tea. Book #3 is MUCH better than Book #2, but it is still a 3/5 for me.

The Mid Year Freak Out Book Tag

Saturday, July 14, 2018

Happy Saturday everyone!

I've been seeing people do this tag and I thought that it would be fun if I could join as well! Half of the year has officially passed. Summer is here which means more free time. I'm also not a fan of heat so I have even more excuses to stay indoors and read. It is looking like a good half year so far :) Thank you to Book Ballistic for the inspiration for this tag.

Book Review: Reign of the Fallen by Sarah Glenn Marsh

Friday, July 13, 2018

Author: Sarah Glenn Marsh
Series: Yes - Book #1 in Reign of the Fallen series.
Cover: I LOVE THE COVER. Absolutely gorgeous. I love the empty space around the skull with the title wrapped around it.
Rating: 2.5/5 This might be one of the lowest ratings I've done for a book in a really long time.

Book Review: Roar by Cora Carmack

Thursday, July 12, 2018

Author: Cora Carmack
Series: Yes - Book #1 in the Stormheart series.
Cover: Ehhh... Not my cup of tea. I do enjoy the title of the book and the reason behind that title!
Rating: 4/5 This book could have been a 5/5 for me if it weren't for the romance. Other than that, I absolutely adored the world of the Stormheart series. It is something different that I haven't read before in other books!

YA Books With Male Protagonists?

Monday, July 9, 2018

Hello everyone, happy Monday!

Sorry for the absence this week. I've had an extremely busy week and I didn't even get any reading time done. I'm only 40% through with Reign of the Fallen by Sarah Glenn Marsh. I even had to return the library book and renew it again lol... Anyway, this blog post is just me asking you readers out there, what are some good YA books that have males as the main character? I feel like 90% of all YA books I've read are by female authors or have female leads. I'd love some recommendations of male authors in YA as well!

Giveaway? Giveaway! Giveaway.

Sunday, July 1, 2018

Happy Monday/Tuesday!

This time it is a hardcover of Roar by Cora Carmack. Why did I choose this book? It was a nice read and I thought "why not." You can read my review of it here if you'd like. It'll be a brand new copy of the book sent through Amazon. Unfortunately, only US residents can enter this giveaway :( Please make sure you're 18+ as well. Use the Rafflecopter form below to get entries for the giveaway! The give away will end on July 7th, 2018. Good luck to all those who enter :)

Top Ten Books I'd Want on a Deserted Island

Saturday, June 30, 2018

Hello everyone. Happy Saturday!

I was playing some ice breaker games on Wednesday and we had a topic of "which celebrity would you take with you to a deserted island?" So, I decided that I can do this with books too! At first, I was going to put a full series down but that would be way too easy. So, for this list, there are no series allowed per choice. Every book counts as one of the ten. Which made the choices 60x harder. Here are 10 books I'd want on a deserted island.

Collecting Is Fun

Monday, June 25, 2018

Happy Monday everyone!

Sorry I've been MIA these past couple of days. It has been extremely busy for me to the point where I don't have time to read much. I hopefully can get back on track by next week. Review of Roar should be out by next week as well (if everything goes to plan this week). That being said, this is just a post talking about things I like to collect! It is just a simple and fun post. Hope you enjoy!

I Love to Read YA

Monday, June 18, 2018

Hello everyone! Happy Monday :)

This post will be a bit of a rant so bear with me here. I attended SIX graduation parties so far this month and while I was there, I ended up talking to quite a bunch of new people. While at one of the parties, I met these two other people that were around my age. I'll name them "Andy" and "Mandy". We were talking about our hobbies, Andy likes to play video games, Mandy loves swimming. Cool cool! The moment I told them I liked reading YA books they gave me a look.

Book Review: Reign the Earth by A.C. Gaughen

Sunday, June 17, 2018

Author: A.C. Gaughen
Series: Yes - Book #1 in The Elementae series.
Cover: The cover is very beautifully made. One bad thing is that the cover looks like it has flames even though the book focuses on the earth. Maybe less red tones. I love the font of the title as well. Super elegant and regal in my opinion.
Rating: 3.5/5 This book wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. This is a book that is building up to the climax. It is just presenting the problems, world, and characters to the readers. I think book #2 will be a lot better than the first book.

Top Ten YA Characters I Would Marry

Tuesday, June 12, 2018

Happy Tuesday everyone!

So, around the blogging world, a lot of people do "Top Ten X Tuesdays." I decided to join in this week with my very own Top Ten list. Albeit, this is a very silly list. As someone who reads 90% YA books, it means that I read A LOT of books that contain romance. Now, some guys in these books are to die for. Some characters, when I read what they say, do, or think, makes my heart beat fast like a hummingbird. So here are ten guys I wouldn't mind saying "I do" to ;)

The Next Five (#3)

Saturday, June 9, 2018

Hello everyone! Happy Saturday to you all~

Here are the next five books that I will be reading. It's almost summer where I'm at and it's currently 58F with pouring rain. Personally, I don't like the heat and rainy weather is the best weather for reading! So as usual, I only read one book at a time and I'm not the speediest reader either. I only read when there is a bit of time in my day to do so. All these books will be on a 5-scale rating when I finish them. If you've read any of the books I've listed, let me know in the comments what your thoughts on them were! No spoilers please :) Here are my thoughts of the books from reading the description of them.

Book Review: The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli

Friday, June 8, 2018

Author: Kristen Ciccarelli
Series: Yes - Book #1 in the Iskari series.
Cover: Very unique cover. Love the choice of the cover being gray scale with the words in bright gold. The tip of the blade provides a very eye-catching picture.
Rating: 5/5 This book is something else. I'm not an English major or an English expert but I love the writing style of Ciccarelli. She just pulls me in with the way she writes. I loved every single page of this book. I heard all the hype for this book and I 100% agree that this book is that great.

When Books Become Movies

Wednesday, June 6, 2018

Happy Wednesday everyone!

So, if you asked me what I did this past week, I would say that I was preparing greatly for the next stage of my life. Or maybe I was doing some mad spring cleaning and was able to throw away all the papers that were in my room. Maybe I went on a romantic getaway in Hawaii and swam with the dolphins. Reality though... I was watching movies that were inspired by books that I've read. This post is my thoughts on them.

A Year of Blogging

Friday, June 1, 2018

Hello everyone! Happy Friday!

So, I've officially been blogging for a year now. I didn't get serious with blogging until January of this year. This post is just basically me looking back on the year of blogging but focusing mostly on January 2018 to today. Why? Because I honestly wrote like nothing in 2017 and I don't remember anything blogging related in that year LOL

Book Review: Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao

Wednesday, May 30, 2018

Author: Julie C. Dao
Series: Yes - Book #1 in Rise of the Empress series.
Cover: I believe there are two official covers for this book but the one down below is the one that I had. I love the cover. The cover fits so well with the story and not only is it elegant but also charming. Not to mention, I also love the title of this book.
Rating: 3/5 This score was very hard for me to decide on. There were some chapters that I absolutely adored and other chapters where I got bored with the book. It wasn't the greatest book I've read this year and it wasn't the worst either. Overall, an average book.

Young Adult Book Endings That I Hate

Friday, May 25, 2018

Happy Friday (Saturday for some people because I posted this mad late xD...) everyone!

Starting off with a little chit chat as usual. I am a little less than halfway through Forest of a Thousand Lanterns so there should be a review of the book coming out next week! The inspiration for this post is from the ending of the Red Queen series. I hate endings that leave me unsatisfied or frustrated. I want to read books that makes me wish I could read 100 pages more or leave an aching feeling in my heart for having the series end. So here are YA endings that I dislike. I will be using examples from certain books, but I won't say the title for spoiler reasons!

Anime Review: Violet Evergarden

Monday, May 21, 2018

Book Review: War Storm by Victoria Aveyard

Sunday, May 20, 2018

Author: Victoria Aveyard
Series: Yes - Book #4 in Red Queen series. Final Book.
Cover: The cover is absolutely gorgeous. This series has the best covers ever. I love all the crowns and the vibrant red blood in all of them.
Rating: 5/5 Oh. My. God. What did I just read? Is this series seriously over? Like what do I do now? This was the book that I was waiting for ALL YEAR. It's done. It's over... My brain is still in after book coma...

Book Review: Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas

Saturday, May 12, 2018

Author: Sarah J. Maas
Series: Yes - Book #6 in Throne of Glass series.
Cover: THIS COVER DOESN'T MATCH THE OTHER COVERS. I mean, it is still a very beautiful cover, but there's no Aelin :(
Rating: 5/5 This book is perfect. I loved everything about it. I cannot believe that there is just ONE more book in this series and then we're done. Over. NO MORE. There's nothing more that I love than reading a book that makes me squeal in delight.

What Makes a Good Book

Thursday, May 10, 2018

Happy Thursday everyone!

Let's start off with a small chit-chat. I am almost done with Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas, with 15% of the book left to read. I am loving it so expect a positive review to come out by next week! Everyone is a different type of reader with different preferences and ideas. When it comes to YA books, I believe I am pretty lax in judging them, but there are certain traits or story telling skills that make certain books better than others. Here are some things that I believe makes a good YA book for me. Remember! Everyone has different tastes.

Burying Myself in Webtoons

Saturday, May 5, 2018

Hello everyone. Happy Saturday! Happy Cinco de Mayo if you're celebrating that as well.

Sometimes I just need a break from reading words after words after words. When days like that appear, I usually find myself reading webtoons! A webtoon is digital comic strip that is published online. Its most common in South Korea and is completely vertical. I love webtoons because of their beautiful artworks and intense story lines. The really big downside to webtoons is that it takes 1-2 weeks for a new chapter/episode to be released. 90% of the time the authors of these webtoons are working on their comic AFTER their full-time job and busy life. In this post, I'm going to list the webtoons that I'm currently reading and loving <3

Book Review: Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

Thursday, May 3, 2018

Author: Kendare Blake
Series: Yes - Book #1 in Three Dark Crowns series.
Cover: Can we take like five minutes to admire how gorgeous the cover is? I was surfing around for books to read and I fell IN LOVE with this cover. I need to buy this book just to have because of how pretty it is <3
Rating: 5/5 I'm conflicted on deciding if I want to read the next book in the series or not RIGHT NOW. I hate waiting for books to release and since this series isn't finished, part of me wants to continue with another book before I pick up One Dark Throne. UGH I CAN'T DECIDE. I LOVE THIS BOOK.

~ Anime That I'm Currently Watching ~

Tuesday, May 1, 2018

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Let's start this post with a little chit-chat. I officially became a year older yesterday and yeah... Do I FEEL older? No. Not really, but at the same time I do. Weird right? I'm also almost done with Three Dark Queens with only 20% left of the book to read. So, book review should be out around this week or no later than next week! Onto the actual topic of the post! Here I'm just going to give a rundown of the anime I've finished and my thoughts on them PLUS talk about the new anime that I've started/continuing to watch. There may be spoilers.... You have been warned...

Books That I've Read That Changed My Life

Saturday, April 28, 2018

Hello everyone. Happy Saturday!

This post is basically about all the books I've read that have changed me in some shape or form. Some of the books that I mentioned might have a more serious reason for being in this post and others maybe a simple reason. I'm sure that every book that I've read has influenced me in some way, but I'm only going to mention a couple that strike out to me most. I believe reading and writing are one of the most important methods of expression, storytelling, and honor for many people, not just the writers, but the readers as well.

If you've read any of the books I've mention, let me know on a 5-star rating scale what you think of it. No spoilers please! Spring Cleaning Book Tag!

Happy Monday everyone! Hope your week is starting off well.

I have been tagged by Noel at Books With Noel to do the Spring Cleaning Book Tag. Thank you very much Noel for the tag if you're reading this post. This is my first book tag and I'll do my best to answer all of them as much as possible. The tag looks really fun to do so I hope everyone here will enjoy the read as well. Thank you for reading and let's start the tag!

Lovely Ladies ~

Friday, April 13, 2018

Hello everyone! Happy Friday! It's Friday the 13th!!!!!! Spooky...

So, this blog post was supposed to be published yesterday, but life decided to kick me in the butt. Right now, I'm really behind with my blog posts, reading, and I'm sorry for that. Now, onto the post! I would like to say 90% of the books I read, have ladies as the protagonist. I was thinking earlier this week, if I could be friends with any fictional ladies, who would be my BFFs. So here are four characters that I would love to be friends with.

Killing Floor!

Sunday, April 8, 2018

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday~

This is another random post that I thought would be fun. What if I put characters from books that I've read this year into an arena and they were told that there can only be one survivor. It is a little dark to think about, but it is fun to think about characters from different books interacting with each other. Think of it like the Hunger Games, only with characters from other books. So, the rules for this killing floor is that the contestants can only be main or supporting characters from books that I've read. For this post, since I have only read six books so far, I am also going to include the seven books I've read last year into the competition. Here are the unlucky contestants!

Book Review: Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater

Friday, April 6, 2018

Author: Maggie Stiefvater
Series: Yes - Book #4 in The Wolves of Mercy Falls series. Final book.
Cover: I really loved the cover design of the other books and I wish Sinner would be like those too. This cover isn't bad, but it's not eye catching like the other three.
Rating: 5/5 This book was a hot, tense, beautiful mess. Stiefvater has done it again.
